Complete heart block in the fetus is a life-threatening emergency that often presents without warning. The obstetrician performs a routine check to assess the heart rate in mid-pregnancy, and after confirmation by ultrasound, determines that the fetus has a persistent bradycardia. In the majority of cases, the mothers do not have a history of a prior fetal problem, or symptoms of Lupus or Sjogren's syndrome, conditions associated with the production of antibodies that can cause inflammation and fibrosis at the A-V node. Upon discovery of congenital heart block, there are few and minimally effective treatment options beyond watchful waiting. Fluorinated steroids (betamethasone or dexamethasone), potentially in combination with beta-adrenergic stimulation have been trialed, but these drugs are associated with multiple serious side effects and have shown only limited if any cardiac improvement. Heart block can progress in utero, and for more than a quarter of these fetuses may result in h

Elevated bed/mattress that is adjustable for growing children with Sleep Breathing Disorders, such as acid reflux, sleep apnea, asthma and lung disease. The invention cradles the child in an upward position while keeping the child on his/her back or side and with counter foot wedges that keep child from sliding downards. Special bed/mattress can help in a more natural way by the use of gravity rather than invasive methods, such as medication & surgeries.

We have an idea that we feel will save the lives of countless children.  Our patent pending invention is a non-intrusive real-time monitoring device for infants and children.  Our device is portable and can be taken home with parents, particularly when they have a premature infant or a child that has a respiratory condition. According to our own research which includes the experience of 3 neonatal respiratory therapists that are on our team, there is a real problem with real time monitoring of infants and a shortage of made-for-children medical devices.  Our idea also contemplates an embodiment that can prevent the drowning of children which is the 2 highest death rate by accident for children between the ages of 6 and 14.

Spinal tap procedures fail more than HALF OF THE TIME (60%) in young infants. Additionally, needle insertion causes bleeding into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in about 25% of infant cases.

Spinal tap procedures are often used to diagnose patients who have sudden severe headache, possible meningitis infection or cancers around the brain. Bleeding into the cerebrospinal fluid makes it more difficult to arrive at a diagnosis, because it is hard to determine if the blood is a symptom of the condition or a result of the lumbar puncture.

Because of this, researchers declare that this procedure should be used sparingly, if at all, in young infants.

But what if there was a way to retrieve spinal fluid that was safer and more effective (higher rate of success), with little or no chance of bleeding into the CSF?

Although I am not a physician, I believe the challenge may be related (1) difference in anatomica

The current child safety seats are still not safe enough for infant babies. Statistics says that young babies stiff suffer from head and neck injuries due to strong shock from a car accident. The proposed idea is a pod like chamber for babies. Visually, the shape of this pod seat is like the one appeared on "Men in Black" movie poster (see attachment), but the baby would sit entirely inside the pod. The weight and design of the pod will be engineered to make the pod stay stable during a minor crash and roll over during a strong crash to reduce the shock on baby's neck.

This addresses the need: A way to prevent fractures in osteogenesis imperfecta ("brittle bone disease")

Imagine being a parent of a little boy with OI, afraid to give him a hug because you're afraid you might break his bones by accident.

Why not put him in a high tech suit that gives you force feedback and tells you when you're being too strong?

Kids often dont like wearing the brace, what if it was designed to be super cool (like a bullet proof vest) or sexy like a shape enhancing wrap?

A kid may be more compliant with their back brace if they know how well they are doing.
